Hunter Doubles Twice in Harding Baseball's 4-3 Loss to East Central

ADA, Okla. – East Central scored three runs in the fourth inning and held on to defeat Harding 4-3 in the first game of a three-game Great American Conference series on Friday at Ken Turner Field. The teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.

East Central improved to 7-19 overall and 7-9 in GAC games. Harding fell to 12-17 overall and 5-11 in conference.

KEY INNINGS
  • East Central used three hits in the third to take a 1-0 lead. Casey Kenney singled with one out and later scored on Jake McKeel's single to left.
  • Harding tied the game in the fourth. Zac Stewart led off the inning with a walk and scored on Grant Guest's RBI ground out.
  • The Tigers had five hits in the three-run fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead. Trey Mound and McKeel both had RBI singles in the inning.
  • Harding mounted a comeback in the sixth, scoring on Grant Guest's sacrifice fly and a Blake Coward RBI double.
  • Harding had the tying runs on in both the eighth and ninth innings but could not score.
KEY STATS
  • East Central's Brandon Dusenberry went the distance for the Tigers and picked up his first win this season, improving to 1-2. He allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) and threw 120 pitches.
  • Harding starter Andrew Fiddler fell to 2-5. He pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed 10 hits and four earned runs with no walks and four strikeouts.
  • Hunter and Noah Chandler had two hits each for Harding, who had five hits as a team. Hunter had two doubles, his sixth and seventh of the season, and his first career two-double game.
  • McKeel went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead East Central.
