ROLLA, Mo. – The Harding softball team split with Missouri S&T on Monday in non-conference action, winning the first game 2-0 but dropped the second game 6-3.
Harding moves to 16-8 overall and Missouri S&T moves to 4-11.
Game One Key Innings (Harding 2, Missouri S&T 0)
- Harding scored its only two runs in the top of the first on one hit and two errors. Peyton Mills singled up the middle to score Courtney Derrick from third. After three batters with Mills at third, Harding scored its second run on a throwing error by the catcher.
Game One Key Statistics
- Each team left six runners on base in the game
- Harding was led by Peyton Mills who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored
- Missouri S&T had five hits in the game by five different players
- Hannah Johnson picked up the win for the Lady Bisons improving her record to 8-1 on the season. It was her fourth complete game and her first shutout of the season.
- Kati Viets threw the complete game for the Lady Miners and falls to 2-6 on the season.
Game Two Key Innings (Missouri S&T 6, Harding 3)
- Harding got on the board in the first inning when Kimmy Hendricks singled to left field that drove in Kinsey Beck.
- Missouri S&T answered back in the bottom of the inning with a run on two hits.
- The Lady Miners took a 3-1 lead in the third after a two-run homerun by Savannah Fedorchak.
- Missouri S&T scored three more in the fourth on four hits led by a three RBI double by Hannah Franceschini.
- Harding got two runs back in the sixth when Brookelynn Moon doubled in Mackenzie Jones and then Amanda Berdon hit a sacrifice fly to knock in Moon.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had six hits in the game, all by different players.
- Missouri S&T had 10 hits led by Monica Weiss who went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
- Harding's starter Kelly Beth Ernest got the loss and falls to 4-3 on the season. She pitched three 2/3 innings and struck out three.
- Ashley Hill threw the complete game for the Lady Miners. She gave up two earned runs and struck out two.
