No. 24 Southeastern Oklahoma Men's Tennis Defeats Harding 8-1

SEARCY - Southeastern Oklahoma, the 24th-ranked team in NCAA Division II, defeated Harding men's tennis 8-1 on Saturday at the Harding Tennis Courts in the Bisons' final home match of the season.

Harding, ranked No. 8 in the ITA Central Region Rankings, fell to 9-5 overall and 0-1 in Great American Conference matches. The Bisons won four of their six home matches in 2016. Southeastern Oklahoma, ranked No. 3 in the region, improved to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the GAC. Southeastern's only GAC loss was a 5-4 defeat Friday at Ouachita Baptist.

Harding's lone point came at No. 6 singles, where freshman Chase Stumne defeated Tiago Ferreira 7-5, 6-4. Stumne became the first Harding player to win 10 dual singles matches this season.

Sophomore Carlos Crisostomo nearly upset Maksim Fil, the 46th-ranked singles player in Division II and top singles player in the Central Region. Crisostomo, ranked 20th in the region, won the first set 6-1, but Fil won a second-set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3) and a third-set 10-point tiebreaker, 10-4.

Harding is off until next Saturday when the team travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma, to take on Oklahoma Baptist in its second of four straight GAC matches.
