Harding Men's Tennis Defeats Oklahoma Baptist 6-3 for GAC Victory

SHAWNEE, Okla. - Harding men's tennis evened its Great American Conference record with a 6-3 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday. The Bisons won two doubles matches and four singles matches and improved to 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the GAC.

Oklahoma Baptist (13-7, 0-3) lost its third straight. Harding won for the third time in its last four matches and plays again Thursday against nationally-ranked Ouachita Baptist.

Harding's two points in doubles came at No.1 and No. 3. Carlos Crisostomo and Henrique Vieira, ranked fifth in the Central Region, won 8-1 at No. 1 over the eighth-ranked Daniel Aguilera and Thomas Ackernecht. It was their team-best 14th doubles victory of the season and 11th dual match win.

Brandon Hogland and Chase Stumne won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles, also reaching 11 doubles victories.

Hogland and Stumne also collected singles wins for the Bisons. Hogland won in three sets at No. 5 to improve to 10-8 overall. Three of his last four matches have gone three sets, and he is 3-2 in three-set matches this season.

Stumne won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 6 and is the only Harding player to have won both of his conference singles matches this season. He has won three straight and has a team-best 11-4 record in dual matches.

Adrian Torrico and Neto Cacace won singles matches in straight sets. Torrico improved to 28-9 in his Harding career and won his team-leading 15th match of the season 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2.

Cacace led 6-2, 3-0 when Oklahoma Baptist's Michael Vetter retired to give Cacace his third win in his last four matches.
