BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Maddie Dow hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give No. 18 Southern Arkansas a 3-2 win over Harding softball on Sunday to force a rematch for GAC Tournament Title.
No. 4 seed Harding falls to 37-23 overall and No. 2 seed Southern Arkansas improves to 45-9.
Key Innings
- Southern Arkansas had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the first but Harding was able to get a strikeout to end the threat.
- Mackenzie Jones led off the top of the second for Harding and reached base on a fielding error. With Jones at second and two outs, Morgan Acosta hit a single to center field but a great throw by Liz Hudgins got Jones at home.
- Harding had another scoring opportunity in the third. The Lady Bisons had runners at second and third with one out but didn't produce a run.
- Southern Arkansas had the bases loaded with one out in the third but Harding got a strikeout and a fly out to left to end to the inning.
- The Lady Muleriders got the bases loaded in the fifth and with two outs scored a run when Tyler Casada singled to the pitcher. Harding got the next batter to pop up to get out of the inning.
- The Lady Bisons got the bases loaded with one out in the top of the sixth but Southern Arkansas got a ground out and a fly out to end the inning.
- Kimmy Hendricks hit a two run home run to left field to give Harding a 2-1 lead. It was her ninth home run of the season.
- Darian Harris led off the seventh inning for Southern Arkansas with a single up the middle. Maddie Dow was the next batter.
