Four First Half Goals Lead Women's Soccer to Victory

SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team scored four first half goals as it defeated Northwestern Oklahoma 4-0 on Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Stevens Soccer Complex. The win marked the 12th straight win at home for the Lady Bisons dating back to 2014.

RECORDS

Harding improves to 6-2-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in the GAC. Northwestern Oklahoma falls to 0-8-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 12th minute – McKenna Smith scored her first goal of the season off a shot by Carley Stevens which was saved.

Harding 2, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 14th minute – Bethany Sutherland found the back of the net from the top of the box.

Harding 3, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 27th minute – Morgan Springborn's corner kick went right to the top of the six-yard box for Bethany Sutherland to clean up.

Harding 4, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 31st minute – Melita Sutherland sent a free kick into the top of the six-yard box that found Rachel Bacon for the goal.

TEAM STATS

Harding took a season-high 28 shots, 17 were on goal.

The Lady Bisons had 23 players play in the game.

Northwestern Oklahoma had 13 saves and took five shots all by different players, three were on goal.

It was Harding's fifth shutout of the season and its third straight.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Sophomore Bethany Sutherland scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season. She took six shots; all were on goal.

Carley Stevens picked up her third assist of the season and it was Morgan Springborn's second.

It was Rachel Bacon's second goal of the season.

Briana Legaspi had nine saves for Northwestern Oklahoma.

Harding will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma at 11 a.m., in GAC action at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
