Volleyball Wins Seventh Straight GAC Match Saturday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team swept Southwestern Oklahoma 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-21) Saturday in Great American Conference at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

The Lady Bisons improve to 19-3 overall and 8-1 in the GAC.

Southwestern Oklahoma falls to 9-15 overall and 5-4 in the GAC.

FIRST SET

With the first set tied at two, Harding quickly took control of the set with an 11-4 run to lead 13-6. The Lady Bisons went on to win 25-14. Harding had 17 kills in the set and hit .357. It also held the Bulldogs to hitting .089.

SECOND SET

Trailing 12-8 in the second set, Harding went on an 8-1 run to lead 16-13. Southwestern Oklahoma battled back and pulled within two 19-17 until Harding scored the next six points to win 25-17.

THIRD SET

Southwestern Oklahoma jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third set. Harding battled back and took a 15-9 lead on a 4-0 run on three kills. The Bulldogs battled back and cut the lead to three 23-20 but Harding put the set away on kills by Emily Clayton and Taylor Mounts to win 25-21.

-          Harding was led by Emily Clayton who had 12 kills and hit .257.

-          The Lady Bisons had 72 digs in the match, the second most in a three-set match. Harding had 73 digs against Henderson State.

-          Rachel Heussner captured a double-double with 37 assists and 11 digs.

-          Taylor Lake led the defense with 20 digs. Selena Foster added 12 digs and Madison Poen added 11.

Southwestern Oklahoma

-          Southwestern Oklahoma was led by DeLayni Fine who had 14 kills.

-          Kaitlyn Dillon had 25 digs for the Bulldogs.

UP NEXT

Harding will play its final non-conference match of the season Tuesday when it travels to Batesville, Arkansas to take on Lyon at 7 p.m.
