Volleyball Sweeps Lyon Tuesday 3-0

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team swept Lyon 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-11) Tuesday in non-conference action. It was the Lady Bisons final non-conference match of the season.

The Lady Bisons improve to 20-3 overall. Harding has reached 20 wins in a season, 26 times, 18 times in the NCAA era (since 1997).

Lyon falls to 13-13 overall.

Harding moves to 26-0 against Lyon, including 6-0 under Coach Meredith Fear.

FIRST SET

Harding jumped out to an early 6-1 lead before growing their lead to 20-6. Harding ended the set with back-to-back kills by Taylor Mounts and Emma Reeves.

SECOND SET

Harding started hot again, jumping to a 9-3 lead before Lyon fought back to within three, 15-13. Harding finished the set on a 10-3 run capped by a kill from Madison Poen.

THIRD SET

Harding pulled ahead early in the set 9-6 and then 15-9 before a Lyon timeout. Out of the timeout, the Lady Bisons went on a 7-0 run before ending the set on a 10-2 run. Harding hit .520 in the set.

-          Harding was led by Madison Poen, Zoe Hardin, and Taylor Mounts who had six kills.

-          The defense was led by Madison Poen who had nine digs.

-          Rachel Heussner led Harding at the net with five blocks.

-          Harding had eight service aces in the match, the second highest total on the season. Madison Poen, Zoe Hardin, and Rachel Heussner all had two aces in the match.

-          Harding held Lyon to a -.036 hitting percentage and forced 22 attack errors. It was the second time this season Harding has held its opponent to a negative hitting percentage.

Lyon

-          Lyon was led by Michayla Shanks who had five kills.

-          Madisson Williams had nine digs for the Scots.

UP NEXT

Harding hits the road this weekend when it travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma Baptist in Great American Conference play at 6 p.m., Friday.
