Volleyball Wins Eighth Straight GAC Match Friday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team had a season-high 111 digs as it outlasted Oklahoma Baptist 3-2 (25-16. 24-26, 25-27, 25-19, 15-12) Friday in Great American Conference action.

Harding improves to 21-3 overall and 9-1 in the GAC.

Oklahoma Baptist falls to 13-11 overall and 8-3 in the GAC.

FIRST SET

Trailing 13-10 in the first set, Harding went on a 15-3 run to win the set 25-16. The Lady Bisons had 10 kills during their run.

SECOND SET

Harding took a 24-17 lead late in the second set before Oklahoma Baptist went on a 9-0 run win the set 26-24. Oklahoma Baptist forced five Harding errors during its run.

THIRD SET

Trailing 17-14 in the third set, Harding went on a 5-1 run on four kills to lead 19-18. Oklahoma Baptist then took a 22-19 lead on a 4-0 run. Harding tied the set at 22 before Oklahoma Baptist battled back and won the set 27-25.

FOURTH SET

The fourth set stayed close until Oklahoma Baptist took a 16-14 lead. Harding answered back and only allowed Oklahoma Baptist to score three more points as it won 25-19.

FIFTH SET

With the fifth set tied at 12, Harding scored the next three points on a kill by Taylor Mounts, a service ace by Selena Foster and a Oklahoma Baptist attack error to get the set win 15-12.

STATS

Harding

-          Zoe Hardin led Harding tying her career-high of 18 kills. Emma Reeves was right behind her with career-high 16 kills and Emily Clayton added 11.

-          Rachel Heussner captured a double-double with 57 assists and 11 digs.

-          Harding had three players with 20 or more digs in the match. Taylor Lake led Harding with 34. Selena Foster had a career-high 26 digs and Taylor Eubank had a career-high 21 digs.

-          Emily Smith led Harding at the net with five blocks.

Oklahoma Baptist

-          Oklahoma Baptist was led by Mikayla Watson who had a match-high 21 kills.

-          Oklahoma Baptist had 110 digs in the match led by Kelsi Chavez who had 31.

Harding will be back in action Saturday when it travels to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on Southern Nazarene at 11 a.m.
