Defense Keys Harding Women's Basketball Victory over Arkansas-Monticello

SEARCY – Harding women's basketball held Arkansas-Monticello scoreless in the third quarter and defeated the Blossoms 57-43 on Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House. It was the first time since the NCAA went from halves to quarters last season that Harding has held an opponent without a point in a quarter.

Harding improved to 19-3 overall and 16-1 in the GAC. The Lady Bisons maintained their two-game lead over Arkansas Tech. Harding and Tech play Monday in Russellville.

The victory was Harding's 11th straight at home this season and 13th consecutive dating to last season. The Lady Bisons have won five straight overall and 13 of their last 14.

Arkansas-Monticello lost its 11th straight to Harding and eighth straight in Searcy and fell to 10-11 overall and 7-10 in conference.

Harding shot 8-of-12 and made both of its 3-pointers. Arkansas-Monticello missed all 11 of its shots in the third quarter, and trailed 41-26 entering the fourth quarter.
