SEARCY – The 16th-ranked Harding softball team had a doubleheader shutout of Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday in Great American Conference. Harding won 2-0 and 8-0 in five innings.
Harding has won 15 straight dating back to Feb. 24.
The Lady Bisons improves to 23-3 on the season and 13-1 in the GAC. Oklahoma Baptist falls to 8-12 overall and 1-11 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (#16 Harding 2, Oklahoma Baptist 0)
- With runners at first and second and one out for Harding, Madi Trump hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell.
- Harding picked up an insurance run in the sixth when Autumn Humes doubled off the top of the wall that scored Peyton Mills from first.
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding had six hits in the game, led by Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell who went 2-for-2.
- Oklahoma Baptist produced seven hits but left eight runners on base.
- Hannah Johnson picked up the win for Harding to improve to 12-1 on the season. She threw her seventh complete game and picked up her sixth shutout of the season. She also struck out four.
- Haylee Zimmerman received the loss for Oklahoma Baptist and falls to 5-4 on the season. She gave up six hits, two earned runs and walked two.
Game Two Key Innings (#16 Harding 8, Oklahoma Baptist 0 – 5 innings)
- With a runner at second, Madi Trump layed down a sacrifice bunt that scored Amanda Berdon to give Harding a 1-0 lead in the second.
- Harding blew the game open when it scored four runs on three hits in the third. Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell, Amanda Berdon, Brookelynn Moon and Katie Carney each had a RBI in the inning.
- Harding made it an 8-0 game in the fifth scoring a run on a wild pitch and had a bases loaded walk.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had nine hits in the game with Alexus Lawellin and Brookelynn Moon each having two.
- Autumn Humes, who is coming off a perfect game, allowed one hit and picked up the complete game shutout. She improves to 10-1 on the season. In five innings of work, she only allowed two base runners and struck out seven.
- MaKenzie Jones received the loss for Oklahoma Baptist. She falls to 1-4 on the season.
