SEARCY – The 16th-ranked Harding softball team captured a doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Baptist on Sunday in Great American Conference action. Harding has held its opponents scoreless in the last 36 innings (six games).
Harding improved its win streak to 17 straight dating back to Feb. 24.
Harding won 8-0 in five innings and 3-0 on Sunday. It is the third straight series Harding has won all four games.
The Lady Bisons improve to 25-3 on the season and 15-1 in the GAC. Oklahoma Baptist falls to 8-14 overall and 1-13 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (#16 Harding 8, Oklahoma Baptist 0 – 5 innings)
- Harding got on the board in the third inning, scoring three runs on two hits and two errors. Amanda Berdon, Madi Trump and Lindsey Duncan all scored in the inning and Courtney Derrick had the only RBI.
- Harding added two more in the third on four hits. Madi Trump hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell and Amanda Berdon scored on a wild pitch.
- Harding made it an 8-0 game in the fourth, scoring three runs on four hits. Peyton Mills doubled in a run and Amanda Berdon and Mackenzie Jones each had a RBI.
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding had 11 hits by eight different players. Alexus Lawellin, Amanda Berdon and Lindsey Duncan each had two hits.
- Oklahoma Baptist had four hits all by different players.
- Alexus Lawellin improved her hitting streak to 14 games when she doubled in the first inning.
- Hannah Johnson threw the complete game shutout for Harding. She gave up four hits and had one strikeout against 20 batters. She improves to 13-1 on the season.
- McKenzie Jones received the loss for Oklahoma Baptist and falls to 1-5. She got the start and pitched 1 1/3 innings.
Game Two Key Innings (#16 Harding 3, Oklahoma Baptist 0)
- In the third inning, Harding scored two runs on two hits to lead 2-0. Courtney Derrick knocked in Madi Trump and Alexus Lawellin singled in Derrick. With the hit by Lawellin it moved her hitting streak to 15 games.
- Madi Trump singled down the right field line in the sixth that scored Amanda Berdon from second to give Harding a 3-0 lead.
- Oklahoma Baptist got its first hit in the game in the sixth inning.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had five hits, led by Amanda Berdon who went 2-for-3.
- Autumn Humes received the win for Harding and improves to 11-1 on the season. She picked up the shutout, her sixth of the season. Humes gave up two hits, walked two and struck out six.
- Bailee Saye got the loss for Oklahoma Baptist. She falls to 1-4 on the season.
