SEARCY – The 19th-ranked Harding softball team won both games on Saturday to sweep Henderson State in the four-game Great American Conference series. The Lady Bisons won the first game on Saturday 12-1 in five innings and the second game 3-0.
It was the first series sweep since Harding won all four at Northwestern Oklahoma last season.
The Lady Bisons improves to 15-3 on the season and 7-1 in GAC play. Henderson State falls to 9-11 and 3-5 in GAC play.
Game One Key Innings (#19 Harding 12, Henderson State 1 – 5 Innings)
- Henderson State got on the board first in the second inning when Alyssa Dixon singled in a run for the Reddies.
- Harding took a 3-1 lead in the second on one hit. Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell scored on a wild pitch and Alexus Lawellin walked with the bases loaded. The hit came when Peyton Mills singled in Harding's third run.
- Harding made it an 11-1 game in the third. The Lady Bisons scored eight runs on four hits. Autumn Humes and Amanda Berdon each singled in two runs in the inning.
- Harding scored its final run in the fourth when Peyton Mills singled in Brookelynn Moon from second.
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding had eight hits in the game, led by Peyton Mills who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
- Alexus Lawellin, Autumn Humes and Amanda Berdon joined Mills with each having two RBIs in the game.
- Henderson State had four hits, led by Alexis Morton who went 2-for-3.
- Hannah Johnson got the win for Harding to improve to 9-1. In four innings of work, she gave up four hits, walked two and struck out four in 19 batters faced. Amanda Berry pitched one inning and did not allow a hit.
- Michelle Sorensen received the loss and falls to 6-6. When pitched two innings, gave up three hits and three earned runs.
Game Two Key Innings (#19 Harding 3, Henderson State 0)
- With the bases loaded in the second, Courtney Derrick hit a bases clearing double to left center field that scored Lindsey Duncan, Madi Trump and Brookelynn Moon.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had six hits, led by Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell who went 2-for-3.
- Autumn Humes got the win for Harding to improve to 6-1 on the season. She gave up two hits and struck out 10 in 22 batters faced. It was Humes six complete game and her second shutout of the season.
- Syndey Bonner received the loss and falls to 1-1 for Henderson State.
