SEARCY – The 19th-ranked Harding softball team won its eighth and ninth game in a row on Tuesday after sweeping Christian Brothers in non-conference action at the Harding Softball Field. The Lady Bisons won 8-0 in five and 8-4.
The Lady Bisons improves to 17-3 on the season and Christian Brothers falls to 4-18.
Game One Key Innings (#19 Harding 8, Christian Brothers 0 – 5 Innings)
- Harding got on the scoreboard in the second inning. With the bases loaded, Lindsey Duncan walked and then Alexus Lawellin had a bases clearing double.
- The Lady Bisons made a 8-0 game in the fifth when Autumn Humes doubled to left center to knock in Alexus Lawellin and Madi Trump doubled in three runs
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding had 10 hits in the game, led by Alexus Lawellin who went 3-for-3. Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell also had multiple hits, going 2-for-3.
- Christian Brothers had three hits led by Toni Rizzo when went 2-for-2.
- Autumn Humes got the win for Harding and improves to 7-1. She threw the complete game, gave up three hits and struck out three.
- Jenna Cotter received the loss for Christian Brothers in 4 2/3 innings of work.
Game Two Key Innings (#19 Harding 8, Christian Brothers 4)
- Peyton Mills doubled in a run to get things startedfor Harding in the first inning.
- After a Madi Trump triple, Brookelynn Moon doubled her in to make it a 2-0 game.
- Christian Brothers tied the game in the third when Kylie Steagall hit a two-run home run to right field.
- Harding scored four more runs in the fourth on three hits. Alexus Lawellin walked with the bases loaded for the first run then Peyton Mills singled in two runs and Autumn Humes singled in a run.
- The Lady Bisons made it an 8-2 game in fifth on RBIs by Brookelynn Moon and Courtney Derrick.
- Christian Brothers scored its final two runs in the seventh on two hits.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had 12 hits in the game with five players having two hits.
- Christian Brothers had eight hits led by Kylie Steagall who went 3-for-4.
- Amana Berry picked up her first collegiate win to improve to 1-1 for Harding. It was also her first complete game. She gave up eight hits, three earned runs and struck out five.
- Julia Schassburger received the loss for Christian Brothers and falls to 2-8 on the season.
