Southeastern Oklahoma Completes Series Sweep of Harding Baseball

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma completed a three-game sweep of the Harding baseball team with an 11-1 victory over the Bisons on Saturday at the Ballpark in Durant. Southeastern won 9-1 and 5-4 in Friday's doubleheader.

Harding dropped to 11-21 overall and 8-13 in conference. Southeastern improved to 9-19-1 and 8-11 in GAC games.

Harding starter Jackson Ward (1-4) shut down the Southeastern offense for the first four innings. With one out in the fifth, Ty Hanson struck out but reached on a wild pitch, the first of seven straight Southeastern hitters to reach. The Storm scored seven runs in the inning on only three hits and were aided by two walks and two hit batters.

A three-run home run by Brett Akins was part of a four-run sixth inning for the Storm that extended their lead to 11-0.

Zach Beasley singled to lead off the seventh for Harding and scored on Connor Kelly's single to right. The game was stopped after seven innings due to the NCAA's 10-run rule.

Southeastern's Hayden Grimes (3-4) was the winning pitcher. He allowed nine hits and one earned run with four strikeouts.

Grant Guest was 3-for-3 to lead Harding. It was his team-leading 10th multi-hit game of the season and fourth three-hit game.

Harding is back in action Tuesday in Searcy with a non-conference game against Lane College. Action begins at 3 p.m. at Jerry Moore Field.
