Harding Baseball Homers Twice in Victory over Hendrix

SEARCY – Harding sophomore Ben Brauss hit a leadoff home run, and junior Chris Taylor added a two-run home run in the sixth to lead the Bisons to an 11-7 victory over Hendrix on a rain-soaked Tuesday at Jerry Moore Field.

Every starter for Harding (16-21) had at least one hit in the game as the Bisons won their fifth straight. Hendrix, an NCAA Division III opponent from Conway, Arkansas, fell to 14-18.

With the score tied 5-5, Harding took the lead for good in the fourth on Brauss' RBI triple and a sacrifice fly from Luke Van Dover.

Harding added two in the fifth on Brooks Pitaniello's two-run double, and Taylor made it 11-5 with his third home run of the season, a towering fly ball that snuck just inside the left-field foul pole.

Hendrix took advantage of five walks in the ninth to score two, but Harding sophomore Matt Sherry got the last out for his first save.

Freshman Logan McCall (2-2) entered the game in the third inning and pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. He retired 12 straight at one point.

Hayden Seay (1-2) gave up Harding's runs in the fourth and took the loss.

Harding will be on the road in Great American Conference action this weekend. The Bisons will take on GAC leader Southern Arkansas in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
