Harding Baseball Falls at Tech, Sets Up Rematch in GAC Tournament

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech's Zach Klockowski hit two home runs in a game for the second time in its three-game Great American Conference series against Harding, and the Wonder Boys defeated the Bisons 14-5 in the series finale. The teams split Friday's games with Arkansas Tech winning the opener 19-3 and Harding taking game two 6-2.

The results of the series set up a rematch of the two teams in the GAC Tournament that begins Friday. Arkansas Tech concluded the regular season 32-18 overall and in second place in the GAC with a 24-9 conference record. Harding finished 22-27 overall and in seventh place in the GAC with a 14-19 record.

Tech will host the first of a best-two-of-three series Friday at 7 p.m. at Tech Field.

In Saturday's game, Klockowski hit a first-inning grand slam and added a two-run home run in the seventh.

Harding's runs came on a two-run home run from Tyler Mohr in the second, his first of the season, and another two-run blast from Luke Van Dover in the fifth. Grant Guest also drove in a run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly. Van Dover's home run was his team-leading fifth of the season.

Seven Harding pitchers combined to allow only nine hits, but five went for extra bases, and Tech took advantage of 14 walks.

Logan McCall (2-3) started and took the loss. Tech reliever Quentin Bowling (5-0) pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings for the win.

Harding had seven hits from seven different hitters. Ben Brauss singled to lead off the game and has now reached base in 21 straight games.
