SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team defeated Ouachita Baptist 6-1 Tuesday in Great American Conference action on a humid night. Five different players scored for Harding.

The Lady Bisons improve to 3-6-1 on the season and 3-2-0 in the GAC.

Ouachita Baptist falls to 4-6-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Ouachita Baptist 0 – 12th minute – Melanie Matkins hit a cross from the left side that found Emma Welch who scored her second goal of the season.

Harding 2, Ouachita Baptist 0 – 35th minute – Bethany Sutherland sent a cross from the right side to the six-yard box for Parker Smitherman to clean up. It was her first career goal.

Harding 3, Ouachita Baptist 0 – 40th minute – Bethany Sutherland took a shot that bounced off the goalkeeper right to the foot of Madison Massoth for her second goal of the season.

Harding 4, Ouachita Baptist 0 – 68th minute – Melanie Matkins took a shot that rebounded off the goalkeeper for Yuri Richardson who was screaming down the left side. It was her second goal of the season.

Harding 4, Ouachita Baptist 1 – 72nd minute – Ashlyn Heckman converted Ouachita Baptist's first penalty kick of the season. It was Heckman's fourth goal.

Harding 5, Ouachita Baptist 1 – 78th minute – Asia Hollingsworth sent a corner kick into the box that found the head of Amelia Grizzell for her first goal of the season.

Harding 6, Ouachita Baptist 1 – 80th minute – Madison Massoth sent a through ball up the middle for Amelia Grizzell who took a shot with her left foot to lower the left corner.

STATS

Harding took 30 shots in the game, 18 were on goal. It was the second time this season the Lady Bisons have taken over 30 shots in a game. They had 39 at Southern Nazarene.

Bethany Sutherland led Harding with seven shots, three were on goal.

Ouachita Baptist took 18 shots, six were on goal.

Jessica Woessner had five saves for the Lady Bisons.
