Harding Men's Tennis Loses Tight Match to Mississippi College

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding men's tennis lost a close 5-4 neutral site, nonconference match Friday against Mississippi College, a member of the NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference. Most of the matches were played indoors at the Ward Tennis Center on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University. No. 5 and No. 6 singles were both played outdoors.
 
With the loss, Harding dropped to 3-5 overall. Mississippi College improved to 3-0.
 
Harding trailed 2-1 after doubles. The Bisons earned the first point of the match with an 8-2 victory by Adria Abella and Pablo Trevino at No. 3. Abella and Trevino are now 7-7 overall and 4-4 in dual doubles matches.
 
Mississippi College pushed its lead to 4-1 with singles wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Harding collected its second point with Morgan Salvan's 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4. Salvan improved to 15-3 overall and 7-1 in dual singles matches.
 
Harding pulled to within 4-3 with Luis Tirado's 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5. Tirado is 7-7 in singles, including 4-4 in dual matches.
 
Mississippi College clinched the match with a win at No. 2.
 
Harding tacked on its final point with Abella's three-set win at No. 6. Abella improved to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in dual singles matches. It was only the second time in 15 matches this season that Abella went to a third set. He is now 1-1 in those matches.
