Harding Women's Basketball Wins Seventh Straight Home Game, Holds off Henderson State

SEARCY – Harding women's basketball closed out its regular season with its seventh consecutive home victory Saturday, a 64-62 triumph over Henderson State in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding, now 16-14 overall and 12-10 in the GAC, clinched the No. 4 seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament and will play No. 5 seed Southeastern Oklahoma Friday at 5:45 p.m. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Neither team ever held a lead of more than nine points in the game. With 1:24 left, Harding's Kellie Lampo broke the seventh tie and gave the Lady Bisons a 61-59 lead. Henderson State misfired on its next possession and had to foul Sydney Layrock after the rebound. Layrock made two free throws to put Harding up four.

Following a timeout, Henderson State answered with a 3-pointer from Karrington Whaley to cut Harding's lead to 63-62. Henderson State fouled again, and Falan Miller made one of two. Henderson State missed its last shot and had a turnover on its last possession to give Harding its 11th win over the Reddies in their last 12 meetings in Searcy.

Lampo led Harding with 17 points, and Miller added 13. Peyton Padgett had a career-high 14 rebounds, the second-most by a Harding player in a game this season. Harding outrebounded Henderson State 43-29.

Pink Jones led the Reddies with 24 points, five rebounds and six steals.

Henderson finished the regular season 20-8 overall and 16-6 in the GAC. The Reddies are the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 Ouachita Baptist in the GAC Tournament quarterfinals.

Saturday's game was Senior Night. In a postgame ceremony, Harding honored seniors Miller, Layrock and Mackenzie McNamara.
