Harding Softball Drops First Two at Southeastern Oklahoma

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma's pitchers held No. 16 Harding to six hits and won both games of the Great American Conference doubleheader Friday, winning game one 4-1 and game two 2-0.

Harding fell to 23-9 overall and 15-7 in the GAC. Southeastern improved to 23-12 and 17-5 in conference.

Southeastern took a 3-0 lead in the first inning of game one, using three hits and a Harding error to score three runs.

Harding scored its only run of the day on Mason McCord's home run to lead off the top of the sixth. It was McCord's second home run of the season.

Kelsey Meeks (19-7) pitched a complete game for the Savage Storm and earned the win. Harding's Emma Dwyer (9-3) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Southeastern scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take game two. Leadoff hitter Elexis Watson hit a solo home run in the fifth for Southeastern.

Amanda Fields had two of Harding's three hits, both singles.

Destiny Riddle (3-3) pitched the shutout to earn the win. Amanda Berry (7-4) suffered the loss, allowing only one earned run in 4 2/3 innings.

The two teams will conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
