BETHANY, Okla. – Harding women's soccer got three goals from three different players to post a 3-2 Great American Conference victory over Southern Nazarene, the team's first win of the season.
Harding moved to 1-5-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the GAC. Southern Nazarene dropped to 1-7-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the GAC, losing its sixth straight game.
After Southern Nazarene took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute, Harding answered almost immediately with Emma Welch's first goal of the season, assisted by Melanie Matkins.
Harding made it 2-0 in the 35th minute on Bethany Sutherland's team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Matkins and Welch switched roles for Harding's third goal, with Welch providing the assist on Matkins' second goal of the season in the 82nd minute. It became the eventual game-winning goal after Southern Nazarene added a late goal in the 85th minute.
Harding plays its third of 12 consecutive conference games Thursday at home against Northwestern Oklahoma. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Stevens Soccer Field.

- Harding posted a season-high scoring total, notching three goals for the first time this season and for the first time since scoring six against Ouachita Baptist on Oct. 24, 2017.
- Harding had an overwhelming 39-12 shot advantage. The 39 shots were the most ever by a Harding team in a road game. Harding had a staggering 27 shots in the second half alone.
- Harding also had 17 shots on goal, the most by a Harding team in a road game since firing 18 shots on goal in a 2-2 tie against Texas Woman's in 2006.
- Sutherland had 11 shots in the game, tying her own team season high, and tying for the fifth-most shots in a game in program history. She also had 11 against Missouri Western.
- Sutherland's goal extended her school record to 56 career goals.
- Matkins and Welch both had a goal and an assist in the same game for the first time in their careers.
- Sutherland and Welch led Harding with five shots on goal each.
