Volleyball Sweeps Southern Arkansas Thursday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team swept Southern Arkansas 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-23) Thursday in Great American Conference action.

It was Harding's second straight sweep.

Harding improves to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the GAC.

Southern Arkansas falls to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the GAC.

FIRST SET

Leading 4-2 in the first set, Harding went on a 4-0 on four kills to lead 8-2. Leading 21-15, Harding scored four of the next five points on four kills to win the set 25-16. Logan Smith had six kills in the set for Harding.

SECOND SET

Trailing 15-7 in the second set, Harding went on an 8-2 run on six kills to cut the lead to 17-15. Trailing 23-19, Harding tied the game at 23 after a 4-0 run on two aces. A kill by Southern Arkansas gave them a 24-23 advantage until Harding scored the next three points to win the set 26-24. Harding hit .324 in the set.

THIRD SET

Trailing 17-11, Southern Arkansas went on a 6-1 run to pull within one 18-17. The Muleriders tied the set at 23 but a Harding kill and a block gave the Lady Bisons the win 25-23. Kelli McKinnon and Logan Smith each had five kills for Harding.

-          Harding was led by Logan Smith who had 14 kills. Kelli McKinnon had 13 kills and hit .765 in the match.

-          Sarah Morehead had 38 assists for Harding and three blocks.

-          Libby Hinton had seven kills and five blocks for Harding.

-          Katherine Cowart led the defense with 11 digs.

-          Harding hit .315 in the match.

Southern Arkansas

-          Seven Powers led Southern Arkansas with 13 kills.

-          Alana Perez had 15 digs for the Muleriders.

-          Southern Arkansas had eight aces in the match.

-          The Muleriders hit .211 in the match.

UP NEXT

Harding will take a break from GAC action Tuesday when it hosts Union at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
