HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Harding women's soccer team shutout Northwestern Oklahoma 3-0 Thursday in Great American Conference action at Lakside High School.
The game was scheduled to be played in Searcy but was moved to Hot Springs due to the amount of rain Searcy had the last couple of days.
Harding improves to 6-7-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the GAC.
Northwestern Oklahoma falls to 6-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the GAC.
GOALS
Harding 1, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 8th minute – Emma Welch sent a through ball to Melanie Spurgeon who found the lower right corner from eight-yards out.
Harding 2, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 20th minute – Nicole Morgan hit a cross that found the head of Melanie Spurgeon who headed it home from three-yards out. It was her team-leading eighth goal of the season and her second muli-goal game of the season.
Harding 3, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 80th minute – Parker Smitherman sent a corner kick to the foot of Emma Welch who tapped it in from five-yards out.
STATS
Harding 10 shots, seven were on goal. Melanie Spurgeon had five shots and Emma Welch had four shots.
Northwestern Oklahoma had eight shots by seven different players. Five shots were on goal.
Jessica Woessner got the shutout in goal for Harding. It was her fifth shutout of the season.

Harding will play its final home game of the season Saturday when it takes on Southwestern Oklahoma at 11 a.m. Before the game at 10:45 a.m., the Lady Bisons will honor its seniors for their contributions to the program.
