SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Southwestern Oklahoma Saturday at the Stevens Soccer Complex on senior day.
Before the game, Harding recognized seniors Amelia Lewis, Michelle Morgan, Nichole Morgan, Melanie Spurgeon and Jessica Woessner for their contributions to the Lady Bison soccer program.
After Saturday's results in the GAC, Harding is currently in four place in the GAC standings with the top four teams advancing to the GAC Tournament November 14 and 16. Venue is decided upon who wins the GAC Regular Season Championship.
Harding falls to 6-8-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the GAC.
Southwestern Oklahoma improves to 10-4-2 overall and 7-1-2 in the GAC.
GOALS
Harding 1, Southwestern Okla. 0 – 54th minute – Melanie Spurgeon hit a shot that was saved but the rebound fell to Emma Welch who had a tap in for the goal. It was her second of the season.
Southwestern Okla. 1, Harding 1 – 59th minute – Micaela Swain centered a pass to Sandra Nabweteme who shot from just inside the 18-yard box. It was her 16th goal of the season.
Southwestern Okla. 2, Harding 1 – 82nd minute – Brenna McGuirk stole the ball from the defense that led to a short pass to Sandra Nabweteme for her 17th goal of the season.
STATS
Southwestern Oklahoma had 15 shots in the game, eight were on goal. Sandra Nabweteme had seven shots, four were on goal.
Harding had eight shots in the game by four different players with each having two. Four shots were on goal.
Jessica Woessner had five saves for Harding.
