Fort Hays State Defeats Harding Men's Soccer 3-1 at GAC/MIAA Tournament

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State took an early lead and defeated Harding 3-1 Friday in the semifinals of the GAC/MIAA Tournament, ending the Bisons's season.

Harding, the tournament's No. 4 seed, finished with a 9-6-2 record, its third winning season in the last four years. Fort Hays State, the tournament host and No. 1 seed advanced to meet No. 2 seed Rogers State in Sunday's final.

Fort Hays State (13-5-1) took the lead for good in the eighth minute on a goal by Alec Bevis. The Tigers added goals from Arsenio Chamorro in the 18th and 69th minutes.

Harding's goal came from senior Jeremy Nwonumah in the 72nd minute with an assist from freshman Joe Ruedi. It was Nwonumah's third goal of the season and 15th of his career.
