SEARCY – Junior Kellie Lampo had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Harding shot 83% from the free-throw line in a 75-67 victory over MIAA opponent Missouri Southern in the Big Red Classic at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
Harding won both of its games in the Classic and improved to 2-0 on the season. The Lady Bisons host Angelo State Friday in nonconference action.
Harding took a 15-12 lead late in the first quarter on a Kennedy Cooper 3-pointer. The Lady Bisons never trailed after that and led 31-24 at halftime.
The lead increased to 14 points twice in the fourth quarter, but Harding weathered a late push from Missouri Southern. The Lions closed to within five twice, but the Harding continued to hit free throws down the stretch.
Lampo hit 6 of 13 from the field, including a 3-pointer, and made 11 of her 13 free throws.
Senior Cheyenne Brown added 14 points for the Lady Bisons. Carissa Caples had 11 points and a team-high six assists.
Chasidee Owens led Missouri Southern (0-2) with 21 points. Destiny Cozart made four of the Lions's seven 3-pointers and scored 19 points.
