Harding Men's Tennis Opens Spring with Two Wins

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DALLAS – Harding men's tennis opened its spring season Friday with a pair of victories over NCAA Division II Heartland Conference teams. The Bisons won 4-0 over Dallas Baptist and defeated Newman 6-1.

Harding (2-0) earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The No. 1 team of Alejandro Sendra and Morgan Salvan won 6-1, and Luis Tirado and Diego Pierola won 6-3 at No. 3.

Harding clinched the match with three singles wins in the bottom three spots. A.J. Barrington won in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 6 (2-6, 6-1, 10-3). Alvaro De Lorenzo made it 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5, and Salvan clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4.

Harding also won the doubles point against Newman, located in Wichita, Kansas. De Lorenzo and Barrington won 6-1 at No. 2, and Tirado and Pierola won 6-3 at No. 3.

Harding won five of the six singles matches with Tirado earning the clinching point with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 2.

Harding continues its opening weekend Saturday with a matchup against Texas Permian Basin.
