BETHANY, Okla. – Harding had its second-best shooting effort of the season Thursday, but No. 15 Southern Nazarene shot it even better and defeated the Bisons 96-75 Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Sawyer Center.
Southern Nazarene shot 76 percent in the first half and 61 percent for the game. Harding shot 46 percent in the first half and 53.4 percent for the game, second only to its 56.7 percent against Ecclesia on Nov. 15.
It was Southern Nazarene's 13th win in 14 home games this season and pushed the Crimson Storm to 23-4 overall and 16-3 in the GAC. Southern Nazarene clinched at least a tie for the regular season conference championship. Harding fell to 5-20 overall and 3-16 in the GAC.
Southern Nazarene ended the first half on a 20-4 run and led 49-29 at halftime. The Crimson Storm made 19 of 25 shots in the half.
Southern Nazarene junior Jhonathan Dunn made 10 of 13 shots and led all players with 26 points. Coleman Edwards added 18 points, and RJ Palmer scored 15 points.
Jordan West led Harding with a career-high 20 points, hitting 7 of 11 shots. He became the ninth different player to lead the Bisons in scoring this season.
Collier Blackburn contributed 15 points, connecting on five second-half 3-pointers. He became the third Bison this season to hit five 3s in a game, joining Romen Martin (at Ouachita Baptist) and Gabriel Divic (vs. Ecclesia).
The Bisons will be back in action Saturday against Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
