Harding Men's Tennis Posts Two Central Region Road Wins

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SEARCY – Harding men's tennis won two Central Region road matches over the weekend, defeating Washburn 5-2 Friday in Topeka, Kansas, and Northwest Missouri State 4-3 Saturday in Maryville, Missouri.
 
Harding has won four of its last five matches and improved to 10-3 overall.
 
Against Washburn, Harding won all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Harding's team of Alejandro Sendra and Morgan Salvan upset the No. 3 team in Division II Alejandro Plaza and Paul Haase 7-6.
 
After capturing the doubles point, Harding added four singles victories. The most impressive came at No. 1 where Sendra defeated Plaza, the No. 2-ranked player in Division II, in three sets. Arthur Bellan, Luis Tirado and Salvan also won.
 
It was only the second meeting between Harding and Washburn in men's tennis. Washburn won the first meeting 5-4 in 2015.
 
Harding continued its strong doubles play against Northwest Missouri, again winning all three matches in securing the doubles point.
 
Bellan won his fifth straight match at No. 2 singles, and a win by Tirado at No. 3 gave Harding a 3-1 lead. Salvan clinched the match for Harding with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4.
 
Harding is now 4-5 all-time against Northwest Missouri, winning both of the last two meetings.
 
Harding's next action is Friday, March 29, against Ouachita Baptist as the Bisons open Great American Conference play.
