No. 34 Harding Men's Tennis Breezes Past Oklahoma Baptist

SEARCY – The 34th-ranked Harding men's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory over Oklahoma Baptist Friday at the HU Tennis Courts.

Harding improved to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the Great American Conference and clinched a spot in the GAC Tournament. Oklahoma Baptist fell to 6-9 overall and 0-4 in conference.

Harding earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, both very close matches. At No. 1, the 37th-ranked team of Alejandro Sendra and Morgan Salvan won 6-4 over the 39th-ranked team of Gianluca Galdi and Kevin Andrusch. Will Reeves and Pablo Trevino won 7-6 (8-6) in a tiebreaker. Sendra and Salvan have on six straight and are 8-2 overall.

Harding won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The highlight for Harding came at No. 1 where unranked Arthur Bellan defeated 48th-ranked Andrusch 6-1, 6-3. It was Bellan's second win over a nationally ranked opponent this season.

Luis Tirado won his 11th match of the season 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 to clinch the match for Harding. Salvan won his fourth straight and improved to 15-4.

Harding plays again Saturday in a GAC match against Southeastern Oklahoma. Due to a forecast for rain in Searcy, the match will be played indoors in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
