Hardin, Mills Named 2019 Female Berryhill Award Winners

SEARCY – Zoe Hardin, a member of the Harding University volleyball team from Amarillo, Texas, and Peyton Mills, a member of the softball team from Rockwall, Texas were honored in chapel Wednesday as the 2019 female M.E. Berryhill Award winners. Bryce Bray from the football team was the male recipient.

The Berryhill Award is the highest award the Harding athletic department gives and is named after former coach and athletics director M.E. Berryhill. The honor is given to a senior male and female athlete who possesses the characteristics of athletic excellence and academic achievement.

Hardin is a two-time All-American and two-time GAC Player of the Year. She ranks in Harding's top 10 in attack percentage, blocks and kills, and she helped lead Harding to the 2018 GAC Tournament championship and the team's first NCAA Tournament victory.

Hardin is a nutrition and dietetics major with a 3.51 GPA and is a two-time Academic All-GAC recipient.

Mills is a 2017 All-American and a three-time All-GAC honoree. She ranks first or second in nine different offensive categories at Harding.

Mills is a communication sciences major with a 3.76 GPA and twice earned NFCA Scholar Athlete honors and twice earned Academic All-GAC.

This year is only the second time since Harding began women's athletics in the 1983-84 school year that two females received the Berryhill Award in the same season.

Hardin is the ninth volleyball player to receive the Berryhill Award and the first since Molly Arnold in 2014. Mills is the first softball player to receive the Berryhill Award.
