SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team fell to Arkansas Tech 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 30-28) in Great American Conference action Tuesday at The Rhodes-Reaves Field House. It was Harding's home opener.

Harding falls to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the GAC.

Arkansas Tech improves to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the GAC.

FIRST SET

Hardin jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first set until Arkansas Tech answered back with a 4-0 run to lead 5-4. Trailing 9-8, the Golden Suns went on an 8-1 run on five kills to lead 16-10. Leading 22-17, Arkansas Tech had two kills and forced an attack error to win the set 25-17. Logan Smith had five kills in the set for Harding.

SECOND SET

The second set stayed close throughout. A kill by Allie Anderson put Arkansas Tech up 22-20. The team exchanged points until a kill by the Golden Suns gave them the set 25-23. Each team had 28 digs in the set.

THIRD SET

Trailing 3-1, Harding went on a 5-0 run on two kills to lead 6-3. Arkansas Tech answered back with a 5-1 run to lead 10-8.  Tied at 28, Arkansas Tech scored the next two points to win the set 30-28. Between the two teams, there were five set points.

-          Logan Smith captured a double-double with 12 digs and 15 digs.

-          Katherine Cowart also had 15 digs for Harding.

-          Arika Johnson had 21 assists for the Lady Bisons.

-          Harding hit .159 in the match.

Arkansas Tech

-          Allie Anderson led Arkansas Tech with 12 kills.

-          Madison Grantham led the defensive with 22 digs.

-          Greer Rogers had six blocks for the Golden Suns.

-          Arkansas Tech hit .179 in the match.

UP NEXT

Harding will host the 2019 Harding Invitational this weekend. The Lady Bisons will play three matches. Harding will open the invitational at 2 p.m., Friday against Rockhurst.
