Harding Women's Tennis Splits Matches in Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Harding women's tennis split two matches over the weekend, defeating Drury 4-3 Friday and falling 5-2 to Nebraska-Kearney Saturday. Drury is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and Nebraska-Kearney is in the MIAA.

With the split, Harding's record moved to 3-5. Harding plays again Thursday in a nonconference matchup against Arkansas Tech in Russellville. The Lady Bisons will play their first home matches Friday, Feb. 21 against Blue Mountain College and Tarleton State.

Against Drury, Harding won the doubles point with a 6-2 victory by Rylie Cox Evans and Hana Folse at No. 1 and a 7-6 win by Allison and Emily Carpenter at No. 2 to clinch.

Evans gave the Lady Bisons a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. Drury evened the match with wins at No. 3 and No. 6, but Harding retook the lead with a three-set victory by Allison Carpenter at No. 4.

A three-set win by Drury at No. 2 again tied the match, but Emily Carpenter won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5 to clinch the match.

Nebraska-Kearney (6-1) won the doubles point in Saturday's match. Harding's two points came in singles where Evans won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and Allison Carpenter won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.

Through Harding's first eight matches, Allison Carpenter has the team's most dual wins (5). Evans's three-match winning streak is currently Harding's longest.
