MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Harding softball team fell 8-1 and 5-0 to the seventh-ranked Southern Arkansas Muleriders Saturday in Great American Conference action.
Harding falls to 7-9 overall and 0-4 in the GAC.
Southern Arkansas improves to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (Southern Arkansas 8, Harding 1)
- Harding got on the board first in the top of the third when Hanna Jones hit a RBI single to right center that scored Lindsey Duncan.
- Southern Arkansas answered back with two runs on two hits and a Harding error in the bottom of the third.
- The Mulriders made it 3-1 in the fourth when Christina Hill hit a leadoff home run to left field.
- Southern Arkansas put the game away in the sixth scoring five runs on four hits and a Harding error. The Muleriders hit two home runs in the inning.
Game One Key Statistics
- Southern Arkansas had 10 hits. Elisa Favela and Alese Casper got had two hits for the Muleriders.
- Harding had four hits and was led by Mary Mills Lochala who went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Sydney Wader got the win for Southern Arkansas and improves to 8-0. She gave up one earned run and struck out seven.
- Jenna Hipp received the loss and falls to 1-4. She pitched 3 1/3 innings.
Game Two Key Innings (Southern Arkansas 5, Harding 0)
- Southern Arkansas took a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI doubles by Elisa Favela and Sarah Evans.
- The Muleriders plated three more runs in the fifth on three hints. Elisa Favela hit a three-run home run to left field.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Southern Arkansas had nine hits and was led by Faith Otts and Elisa Favela who each went 3-for-3.
- Harding had one hit.
- Victoria Taylor got the win for the Muleriders and improves to 5-1. She threw five innings and had 12 strikeouts.
- Lily Tanski received the loss and falls to 1-2 on the season.
