Singles Success Leads Harding Women's Tennis Past Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Harding women's tennis won its fourth straight match Tuesday, coming from behind to defeat Arkansas Tech 5-2 in a nonconference matchup at Chartwells Tennis Center.

Harding and Arkansas Tech will play their Great American Conference match in Searcy on April 16.

Harding (7-5) lost the doubles point for the sixth time in 12 matches this season, dropping all three doubles matchups for the first time.

Harding responded by winning five straight singles matches after Tech (4-4) took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 4 singles.

Rylie Cox Evans won 6-2, 6-2 over 46th-rankend Michelle Khoo at No. 1, her third win over a nationally ranked opponent this season and her seventh straight singles win overall.

Emily Carpenter evened the match at 2-2 with her fourth straight singles win, a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 5.

Harding took the lead for good with Lindy Carpenter's three-set win at No. 3. She won her fourth straight match 6-3, 2-6, 7-6, her first win in three sets this season.

Hana Folse clinched the match with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 2. It was the sixth time this season Folse had a singles match go three sets and her fourth win.

Finishing off the win for Harding was Rachel McCrae at No. 6. She won 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to improve to 12-5 this season.

Harding's next action is Friday at home against Henderson State in another nonconference matchup. Both the Tech and Henderson State match count in Harding's regional record. Harding is 4-4 in regional matches this season.
