Harding Women's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight, Downs Henderson State 5-2

SEARCY – Harding women's tennis won its fifth consecutive match Friday, defeating Henderson State 5-2 in a nonconference match at Elliott Tennis Center.

The victory gave Harding an 8-5 overall record and a 5-4 record in Central Region matches. Henderson State fell to 6-4 in its first road match of the season.

Harding won all three doubles matches for the fifth time in 13 matches to earn the doubles point. Allison and Emily Carpenter won 6-2 at No. 2, and Rylie Cox Evans and Hana Folse clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Lindy Carpenter and Jordan Shaw rounded out the sweep with a 6-3 victory at No. 3.

Henderson State evened the match with a singles win at No. 2, but Harding won the next four matches. Allison Carpenter put the Lady Bisons ahead to stay with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking at No. 4.

Harding went ahead 3-1 with Rahcel McCrae's 6-0, 6-0 blanking at No. 6, and Evans's 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 clinched the match for Harding. Emily Carpenter added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 for Harding's fifth point.

Harding's women play twice Saturday, taking on Alabama Huntsville in a neutral-site match in Memphis at 10 a.m. before meeting Rhodes at 2:30 p.m.
