Harding Opens East Central Series With 12-2 Victory

ADA, Okla. – Harding matched its highest-scoring output of the season and won its fourth straight game with a 12-2 victory over East Central on Friday in the first game of a three-game Great American Conference series at Ken Turner Field. The series concludes Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.

Harding (11-5, 4-3) also matched its season high with 16 hits and scored multiple runs in four innings. The game ended after seven innings due to the NCAA's 10-run rule.

Harding opened the game with three runs in the first, keyed by Connor Kelly's two-run double. The Bisons had four more hits and scored twice in the third to take a 5-0 lead.

East Central (7-9, 4-3) scored its first run in the fifth off Harding starter Andrew Bradshaw (3-2) in bottom of the fifth, but Harding plated two more in the top of the sixth to take a 7-1 lead. Kelly had an RBI single, and Luke Van Dover scored a run with a sacrifice fly.

East Central scored a run in the bottom of the sixth and had the bases loaded, but Bradshaw got a double play and a strikeout to get out of the inning.

Harding blew the game open with a five-run seventh. The Bisons had four hits in the inning, including a two-run Miles Humphreys single and Van Dover's RBI double.

Carter McCall came on for Harding retired East Central in order in the seventh to end the game early.

Bradshaw won his second straight start, allowing only two runs on nine hits over six innings. He threw 61 of his 80 pitches for strikes, struck out three and did not have a walk. He has given up only three walks in 28 2/3 innings this season.

Michael Chrisman had his third three-hit game of the season and scored a season-high three runs. Kelly had his first three-hit game of the season and drove in three for the first time this year. Van Dover also had three hits.

East Central starter Spencer Johnston (1-3) allowed six earned runs on 12 hits over 5 2/3 innings.
