SEARCY – The Harding softball team swept the Great American Conference doubleheader over East Central but two run rule games. Harding won 8-0 and 9-1. Both were five inning games.
With Friday's wins, the Lady Bisons sweep the series against East Central. Harding's last series sweep came at home to Northwestern Oklahoma last season.
Harding improves to 11-9 overall and 4-4 in the GAC.
East Central falls to 3-12 overall and 0-8 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (Harding 8, East Central 0)
- B1 – Harding scored five runs on three hits and an East Central error. Nicole Shano, Aidan Nichols, Mary Mills Lochala and Hannah Garrett all had RBI's in the inning. (Harding 5 , East Central 0)
- B3 – Mary Mills Lochala hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Faith Waugh. (Harding 6, East Central 0)
- B4 – Briley Feringa hit a single down the left field line that scored Hanna Jones from second. Amanda Fields hit a RBI single to right center that scored Allison Hyatt from second. (Harding 8, East Central 0)
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding had seven hits. Briley Feringa went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Bisons
- East Central had six hits led by Vanessa Tamayo who went 2-for-2.
- It was Mary Mills Lochala's fourth multiple RBI game of the season.
- Jenna Hipp got the win for Harding and improves to 3-4. She threw four scoreless innings. Emma Dwyer pitched one inning and gave up one hit and had one strikeout.
- Jessica Sisemore received the loss and falls to 0-2 on the season.
Game Two Key Innings (Harding 9, East Central 1)
- B1 – Hanna Jones scored on an East Central throwing error. (Harding 1, East Central 0)
- B3 – Harding scored three runs off four hits in the third. Briley Feringa singled in the first run, Nicole Shano doubled in a run and Bailey Wagner singled in a run. (Harding 4, East Central 0)
- T4 – Miranda Garza hit a solo home run to left center for East Central (Harding 4, East Central 1)
- B5 – The Lady Bisons plated five runs on five hits. Aidan Nichols and Mary Mills Lochala both had sacrifice flies. Lindsey Duncan and Kendall Tramel each had RBI singles. (Harding 9, East Central 1)
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had 12 hits. It was the fourth time this season the Lady Bisons had have 10 or more hits in a game.
- Kendall Tramel, Hanna Jones, Briley Feringa and Nicole Shano all had two hits for Harding.
- East Central had two hits.
- Aidan Nichols got the win for Harding and improves to 5-3. She went four innings and struck out four. Emma Dwyer got the save in one inning of work. It was her fourth of the season.
- Paige Leschber received the loss for East Central and falls to 2-4 on the season.
