Harding Men's Tennis Wins Sixth Straight, Downs Montevallo 6-1

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Harding won two of three very close doubles matches and five singles matches in straight sets to defeat Montevallo 6-1 in non-conference men's tennis action Saturday at Snowden Grove Tennis Center.

With the victory, Harding improved to 6-0 to start the season. Montevallo, a member of the Gulf South Conference, fell to 1-1.

Harding won 7-5 at both No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles. Alvaro De Lorenzo and Morgan Salvan won at No. 1 for their fourth dual win in five matches together. After Montevallo won 7-5 at No. 3, Harding clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 victory by Arthur Bellan and Dani Ortiz at No. 2. That duo has also won four of five dual matches together.

Salvan gave Harding a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 2. He remained perfect at 5-0 in singles matches and moved to 45-11 in his career. Bellan won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 to give the Bisons a 3-0 lead. It was his first win at No. 1 singles. Montevallo won at No. 2 to close the gap to 3-1, but Luis Tirado clinched for Harding with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4. Tirado improved to 7-3 with the win.

De Lorenzo and Bryce Walker tacked on two more points for Harding with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively. De Lorenzo has a team-high nine singles wins, and Walker is 7-3.

Harding returns to action Friday against Drury in Springfield, Missouri. Drury is ranked 20th nationally and third in the Midwest Region.
