Smithson Leads Harding in Arkansas State Exhibition

JONESBORO, Ark. – Sophomore Stetson Smithson scored 14 points to lead the Harding men's basketball team in its final preseason contest, an 81-55 exhibition loss to NCAA Division I Arkansas State Tuesday at the Convocation Center.

Harding begins its regular season in Minnesota on Friday against Minot State. Saturday the Bisons play host school St. Cloud State.

Harding shot 35% from the field and made 6 of 21 (29%) 3-pointers. Arkansas State shot 44% from the field and outscored Harding 20-7 at the free-throw line. The Red Wolves made 20 of 21 free throws (95%).

Smithson shot 5 of 9 and made two of Harding's six 3-pointers. He was the only Bison with 10 or more points. Sophomore transfer Taylor Currie scored eight and tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Senior Ramiro Santiago and junior Davis Morgan both scored seven.

Desi Sills led Arkansas State with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He made all six of his free-throw attempts. Norchad Omier had 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
