Harding Women's Tennis Sweeps Ouachita in GAC Opener

SEARCY - The Harding women's tennis team did not drop a set Wednesday in defeating Ouachita Baptist 7-0 in the first home match of the season. It was the 20th straight victory over Ouachita Baptist and the fifth straight conference-opening win.

The Lady Bisons (3-1, 1-0) used two new doubles pairings to help secure the doubles point. Hana Folse and Lina Romero won 6-1 at No. 3 while Rylie Cox Evans and Emily Carpenter won 6-2 at No. 1 in their first matches as partners. Romane Britt and Lindy Carpenter won their third match of the season to finish the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 2.

Romero secured the second point for the Lady Bisons with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Britt won her fourth straight match of the year at No. 4, 6-0, 6-2. Britt has now won her last eight sets after dropping the first set of the season.

Cox Evans secured the fourth point, and team victory with her 45th career singles win, moving her into a tie for 25th place on the all-time singles victories list. Folse and Lindy Carpenter both won their third straight match in straight-set fashion. Emily Carpenter finished off the sweep of Ouachita Baptist (0-5, 0-1) with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5.

The Lady Bisons will travel to Magnolia, Ark., on Feb. 27 to take on Southern Arkansas in a non-conference matchup, beginning at 1 p.m.
