SEARCY, Ark. – Harding men's soccer fell 3-2 in double overtime to Northeastern State Wednesday at the Stevens Soccer Complex in the second of six GAC/MIAA games to be played in the spring semester.
Almost six minutes into the second overtime period, Northeastern State's Ameer Madden scored the game-winning goal.
Harding (0-2) fell behind 2-0 within the game's first 23 minutes. Northeastern State's Ryan McCully scored both goals, assisted both times by Sam Scarth.
Harding quickly answered with freshman Andres Castano's first collegiate goal in the 29th minute.
Trailing 2-1 at halftime, Harding knotted the game at 2-2 on Georgios Petousis' first goal, assisted by Elliott Bracy in the 62nd minute.
Harding outshot Northeastern State 10-1 in the second half, but the RiverHawks turned the tables in overtime, outshooting Harding 7-0 in the two extra periods.
Harding next plays Tuesday in an exhibition game against Williams Baptist with a 6 p.m. start time. The next official game for the Bisons is Saturday, March 20, against Fort Hays State. The game will be played at Rogers State in Claremore, Oklahoma.
