Softball Wins in Extras at Henderson State

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  – In the top of the 10th inning, Chelsea Blankenship hit a single through the left side that drove in Faith Waugh for what proved to be the winning run at Henderson State Friday. Harding defeated the Reddies 3-2 in Great American Conference play.

It was Harding's second straight extra inning game. Harding defeated Arkansas Tech 4-2 Tuesday in eight innings.

Harding improves to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the GAC.

Henderson State falls to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in the GAC.


Game One Key Innings (Harding 3, Henderson State)

-         T1 – Nicole Shano had a ground out RBI for Harding's first run and Chelsea Blankenship hit a single that drove in Hanna Jones. (Harding 2, Henderson State 0)

-         B6 – Abbie Moore hit a two-run home run for the Reddies. (Harding 2, Henderson State 2)

-         T10 – Blankenship drove in Faith Waugh to give Harding the lead. (Harding 3, Henderson State 2)

 
Game One Key Statistics

-         Harding had nine hits in the game and left 11 runners on base.

-         Henderson State had four hits by four different batters.

-         Chelsea Blankenship led the Lady Bisons going 3-for-4 at the plate and two RBIs. It was her second multiple RBI game this season.

-         Lily Tanski got the win for Harding to improve to 5-1. She pitched all 10 innings, gave up two earned runs and struck out nine.

-         Mallory Brewer received the loss and falls to 1-5 on the season. She pitched six innings of relief and struck out four.

-         The two teams will wrap up their three-game series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon in Arkadelphia, Arkansas
