RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league's fifth baseball weekly accolades for the 2021 season. Oklahoma Baptist's Kaimana Bartolome claimed Player of the Week while Southeastern Oklahoma State's Jacob Potter and Harding's Ryder Yakel shared Pitcher of the Week.
GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kaimana Bartolome, Oklahoma Baptist, 3B, Sr., Haleiwa, Hawaii
Bartolome led the potent Bison offense in their sweep of East Central as he collected seven hits. He went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the opener. He homered twice and drove in six in game two and added his third home of the series in the finale. He finished 7-for-12 with a 1.417 slugging percentage. GAC BASEBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Potter, Southeastern Oklahoma State, SP, Jr., Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Potter lowered his ERA to a sterling 1.93 after recording his second scoreless start of the season. He scattered six hits in tossing a shutout against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday. In the 2-0 win, he reached double digits in strikeouts for the second time this season as he fanned 11 Rangers. He threw only 99 pitches in the victory.
GAC BASEBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Ryder Yakel, Harding, RP, Sr., Lakin, Kansas
Yakel dominated in his lone relief stint of the weekend as he threw 4.0 perfect innings against Henderson State on Friday night. In his first inning of work, he recorded an immaculate inning as he struck out the side on nine pitches. Nine of the 12 outs he recorded came via the strikeout. He improved to 2-0 and dropped his ERA to 0.75.
