The Harding women's tennis team got back in the win column on Saturday, defeating Northwest Missouri State 5-2 in Missouri. The Lady Bisons improved to 7-2 on the season while the Bearcats fell to 2-3.
After dropping the first doubles match of the day, the Lady Bisons grabbed the final two matches to go up 1-0.
Rylie Cox Evans and
Emily Carpenter improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-4 win at No. 1. The win was Cox Evans 50
th doubles win at Harding, to put her into a tie for 19
th in school history.
Romane Britt and
Lindy Carpenter secured the doubles point with a 7-5 victory for their seventh win on the season.
Cox Evans and
Emily Carpenter both dropped close singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 before the Lady Bisons won the remaining four matches. Britt, playing in her first match in the No. 3 spot in the lineup, continued her winning streak to nine-matches with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Allison Carpenter won her fifth consecutive at No. 5 in three sets, 6-7, 6-0, 7-5.
Hana Folse and
Lindy Carpenter both passed milestones in their wins at No. 4 and No. 6. Folse, won 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 for her 50
th career singles victory while
Lindy Carpenter won 6-4, 6-4 for her 40
th career singles victory.
The Lady Bisons will next host Southern Arkansas on March 31 in their second Great American Conference matchup of the season beginning at 2:00 p.m.
