BETHANY, Okla. – The Harding softball team split a Great American Conferenced doubleheader at Southern Nazarene Saturday. The Crimson Storm won the first game 3-2 and Harding won the second game 7-1.
After Southern Nazarene's win Friday, the Crimson Storm won the series 2-1.
Harding moves to 16-6 overall and 9-5 in the GAC.
Southern Nazarene moves to 12-14 overall and 10-7 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (Southern Nazarene 3, Harding 2)
- B1 – Southern Nazarene scored two runs on four hits. Mahina Sauer and Brooklyn Sparkman both singled in a run for the Crimson Storm (Southern Nazarene 2, Harding 0)
- T3 – Hanna Jones hit a double for Harding that scored Makenzie Chappell from second. (Southern Nazarene 2, Harding 1)
- B5 – Sauer led off the inning with a solo homerun for the Crimson Storm. (Southern Nazarene 3, Harding 2)
- T6 – Ashton Bryce hit a single to center field for Harding that scored Allison Hyatt from second. (Southern Nazarene 3, Harding 2)
Game One Key Statistics
- Each team left seven runners on base.
- Southern Nazarene had nine hits led by Natalie Jones who went 3-for-4.
- Harding had eight hits led by Hanna Jones who went 3-for-4.
- Chelsea Vandiver got the win for Southern Nazarene to improve to 4-7 on the season. She pitched 5 1/3 innings and had a strikeout. Brooklyn Sparkman picked up the save in 1 2/3 innings of work. She had two strikeouts.
- Jessica Bridges received the loss for Harding and falls to 4-2 on the season.
Game Two Key Innings (Harding 7, Southern Nazarene 1)
- T3 – Harding scored six runs on five hits and an error. Amanda Fields highlighted the inning with a two-run double to left center. Nicole Shano, Jordan Cabana and Sarah Hudler each drove in a run in the inning. (Harding 6, Southern Nazarene 0)
- B4 – Brooklyn Sullivan hit a single to center field that scored a run for the Crimson Storm. (Harding 6, Southern Nazarene 1)
- T7 – Ashton Bryce hit a triple to right field that scored Jordan Cabana from first. It was her first career triple. (Harding 7, Southern Nazarene 1)
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had 10 hits in the game led by Ashton Bryce who went 3-for-4. Chelsea Blankenship also had two hits.
- Southern Nazarene had five hits led by Sydney Sundbye who went 2-for-3.
- Lily Tanski went the distance and got the win for Harding to improve to 11-3 on the season. She gave up one earned run and struckout four.
- Hannah Sattler received the loss for Southern Nazarene to fall to 0-1.
