SEARCY – Homeruns accounted for all of the runs Sunday in Harding's Great American Conference matchup with 24th-ranked Southern Arkansas. The Muleriders hit three homers and defeated the Lady Bisons 6-1 at the HU Softball Field.
Southern Arkansas's Faith Otts hit a two-run homer in the first, Christian Hill added a solo shot in the second, and Sarah Evans's three-run homer in the third completed the scoring for the Muleriders.
Harding's run came from a solo homer by Amanda Fields in the second, her fifth home run of the season.
Southern Arkansas improved to 18-6 overall and 14-4 in conference. Harding fell to 19-11 overall and 12-9 in the GAC. Harding is back at home Tuesday for a nonconference doubleheader against Christian Brothers.
Southern Arkansas reliever Landry Newgent (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings and earned her first win. Lily Tanski (13-6) took the loss. Harding's Abby Burch (1.2 IP) and Jenna Hipp (2.1) combined for four innings of scoreless relief.
Ashton Bryce had two of Harding's four hits.
