The Harding men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Ouachita Baptist in their final conference match of the season on Thursday. The Bisons (9-5, 3-1) will now wait to see what their seed will be for the MIAA Tournament on May 1-2.
The Bisons went ahead early in doubles but could not close it out.
Arthur Bellan and
Dani Ortiz won their team high eighth match of the season, winning 6-3 at No. 2 before the Bisons dropped the last two doubles matches to fall behind 1-0 in the match.
The Bisons continued to struggle into singles play, losing the first four singles matches, all in straight sets. On his Senior Day,
Luis Tirado picked up the first point for the Bisons, winning 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4 for his fourth straight win. The win for Tirado was also his 50
th career singles victory. Ortiz scored the second and final point for the Bisons with a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 2 for his sixth straight win.
After the match,
Luis Tirado was honored for his contributions on Senior Day.
The Bisons will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they host Delta State beginning at 2 p.m.
