The Harding women's tennis team defeated Arkansas Tech 4-3 on Thursday on Senior Day to clinch the Great American Conference Regular Season Championship for the first time since 2014. The Lady Bisons (13-2, 6-0), winners of their last seven matches, will be the No. 1 seed in the GAC Tournament, beginning on April 23.
The Lady Bisons needed only one win in doubles due to the Golden Suns only having five players and defaulting at No. 3 doubles.
Rylie Cox Evans and
Emily Carpenter secured the doubles point with their ninth win of season at No. 1, winning 6-0.
The Lady Bisons were already up 2-0 in the match after doubles matches due to a default at No. 6 for Arkansas Tech. On Senior Day, the Lady Bisons secured the match with two wins at No. 1 and No. 4 by the lone two seniors on the roster. Cox Evans picked up her sixth straight win at No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Cox Evans finished the conference season with a perfect 6-0 record in singles.
Hana Folse clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4, her eighth win of the season.
